TOP 10 Weekly : Malaysian Love This
Posted on 10:08 AM by The G
Well if you born as Malaysian, and grow as Malaysian and curse people on the road in Malaysian hospitality ways, then this chart is the right one for you to spend your precious time. Just don't forget to loosen up the wallet so some amount of money fly away. Hey handphone is not that cheap like freebies here but the price really drop fast in this fried banana (pisang goreng panas-panas) country. So the countdown begin.
10th place!! It's Nokia C7.
It got your connection fully holy covered. Yes holy. It's a bless. From quad band gsm/gprs/edge to penta-band 3G, wifi, TV-out, radio, GPS and short range connectivity. Bluetooth for example. They stuff almost anything to get you interact. Except one, SETI receiver. The only world you can keep in touch with, is the one that exist in this lovely earth.
To save you from wasting time aiming a group of people for clear facial shot, the 8MP camera is well equipped with...face detection. But unfortunate they lost auto-focus. Active voice cancellation also on board. The capacitive screen is AMOLED. It also pack digital compass so if you are an amateur adventurer, you can jump into deep urban jungle and act like a pro. But that not gonna save you from putting extra money to edit office document. Plus, symbian DNA make it a living fossils. If you lost in real jungle, better find your way out soon before the battery is dead. The cash?
RM 1005-1190.
9th place!! It's SE VIVAZ. RM 1005-1190.
The VIVAZ, daughter of SONY ERICSSON. After suffering from bad bad quality issues with previous model, this one should correct things up. And it did it. The Vivaz is not that holy when it come to connectivity, but it's a champion in snapping your memorable event. Its 8MP snapper bundle with auto-focus, face & smile detection, geotagging and touch focus.
It's living fossils too. But with full flash support browser. Just be aware if picking up a call, don't rub your cheek against its screen where you may accidentally hang up. It doesn't have proximity sensor. It's a savior in meeting though. Especially those who love loud loud speaker and forgot to mute mute it. Now you can turn the phone to mute. Standby RM 735-905 before you dream to get one.
8th place!! It's Nokia E5.
It's for business. And only for RM 580-670 , even an auntie selling fried banana (pisang goreng) can wave this phone crazily. And people thought she is an executive of big company. It is damn good in multitasking. It perform good editing office document. Now burger guy by the road can record their sales in excel and plot a chart to look at their performance.
But the phone can't help you to get some exclusive shots to make an product ads. The camera lacks auto-focus and is 5MP. Low res screen cause eye sore surfing the web. Good thing is, no one can steal or swap you microSD. Bad thing is, it's NO ONE. Include you, you can't hot swap the microSD unless you remove the battery first.
7th place!! It's Nokia X3 Touch & Type.
This one's diet is full of iron. It got metal body. It's well built, slim and light. It's metal. Not hardcore metal but metal metal. I think it got some confusion during its evolution. It has resistive touch screen and physical keypad. Yet the confusion is such an advantage. Its concept win hearts.
Sadly it got many no no. No GPS. No multitasking. No video calls camera. No smart dialing. No auto-focus. No document viewer. No accelerometer. It's comprehensible to moderate user and they are fine with it. Plus, having wifi did put a big smile on their face. And just previously, they were smiling for a week because they didn't have to put their financial in ICU. It only cost RM 470-522.
6th place!! It's Nokia N8.
If you already have this little bastard, I firmly believe you are strongly agree with me. Agree to the statement of, throw away your point & shoot digicam along with the plastic bag that carry your N8 inside. Because this N8 outperform them. It got holy connectivity. It's AMOLED. HDMI. GPS with digital compass. Active noise cancellation. Flash and Java support browser. Oh man, you can use Keepvid with this phone and start downloading that youtube videos. Bluetooth 3.0. Gorilla Glass. The uuhh haa uhh haaa glass on board. Time to tear that screen sticker. Smart and voice dialling. This guy on steroid dude. If you say all those things in front of N8 face, it will only respond a slight smile.
But if you mention this, 12 megapixel autofocus camera with xenon flash and 720p@25fps video recording, large 1/1.83” camera sensor, mechanical shutter, ND filter, geo-tagging, face detection. That is what it brag about. ND Filter. Unbelievable. Hey does it seem too perfect? Yeah it does. It got steroid. But forget to exercise. It's DNA is symbian fossils. Camera face is grandpa. Battery got asthma and is not user replaceable. No video light. Add extra money to this RM 1420-1690 to get office document editor.
5th place!! It's Nokia C6.
Its a slider. A candy bar touch screen with sliding keypad. Horizontal sliding keypad. A four row qwerty keypad. Thank God. Its pleasant. With good key travel and space. Divine connectivity. Not that holy. Tri band 3G feat Quad band GSM that is. Also it got wifi where it allow you to show off a bit at McDonalds. But it does bling something around its neck. At the same time smirk at its rich sibling. It hang SALE sign against the majestic famous, N97 mini. I'm cheap and I'm proud that we are similar it says. Because of the cheapness, at about RM 762-805, you'll get a resistive touchcreen, a fossilized DNA of S60 5th UI, and some nasty add on such as flash support browser, a GPS and smart dialing. Nasty because it's good. It got something over the edge of E5, auto-focus 5MP snapper. And to your amaze, not much differ from its feature sibling, the N97. Well all the gorgeous things you wish on C6 did end up at N97.
C6 is a phone that display teasing playful character, it's all rounder. Sadly, this all rounder got issues with alcohol. It hangover. It's clunky, a bit shabby, and some issues with lag interface and video playback. Ironically with brain size of 434MHz, it seem to be not sufficient enough to curb the alcohol addiction. Wonder if you got lost, and the sun shine bright on top of your head. yu thought you'll sweat to death? Well C6 have GPS. Yes, I'm saved. I can navigate through. Just forget it. The only thing you'll see is your stressful desperate reflection. Weird thing is, it didn't charge off USB. THat's the draw back. But if you're cheap and want to have all, this one suit you the best. Because it did satisfy you well, cheap.
4th place!! It's Samsung Galaxy Ace.
Let us slowly look at the sky. Can you see a galaxy? No. Why? Because it is in your hand. After you pay RM970-1000. It's not gonna help you win poker especially when you're in dire need for ace to make a Four of a Kind. But it score big with its looks. So big that people make mistake and shout "You got an Iphone!", and you politely correct them, "It's Samsung." "And it's better than iphone." A statement to clean your name from label such as, iphone wanna own but lacks of money to get one. And here I am to comfort you, "Nothing wrong with its look. It is cool and catchy." It brain is 800MHz. It provide you with all type of communication from quad band GSM, to 3G, wifi, bluetooth, DLNA, and GPS.
Nothing that is crucial have been left out. Free Apps from Samsung. File manager ready out of the box. DNSe sound enhancement to get you the best sonic experience. Document editor for those who want to bring their office with them. Accelerometer and proximity sensor. We also have Android Froyo here and Touchwiz 3.0 UI. Even its 5MP camera has auto-focus, led flash, geo-tagging, face and smile detection. The quality is good. Not mention the capacitive touchscreen and swype text input to prevent you from cursing the typo. The feel of its rubbery texture back is nice. Another thing to remind you though, except it is not the ace you want for Four of a Kind. Is, it silly when capture videos. The quality is up to 15fps. If you look at the sky, and there is a visit from another galaxy, just forget to take a picture of that green man's saucer. You don't have shutter key for the camera. So, an spontaneous moment is a no. Similar to flash content. Browser lacks its support.
3rd place!! It's SE Xperia Arc.
Finally the top 3. This Xperia here is what have been called the Triumph Arc of Android. But don't expect to have a phone like a crescent. Even though it bares the word ARC. Don't even try to imagine it. What it does is to have a clever ultra slim design (8.7 mm at its thinnest). When you look at the back, both top and bottom are slightly thicker than in its middle. Give you and impression of an arc. Just don't go beyond the limit to bend the phone. It's just an impression. The brain now go 1GHz and the ram 0.5Gb. That's a lot but not enough. Competitors now grinning with dual cores and better GPU. But the Arc got its "Now in HD" like what Astro Beyond did. Forget Lampard and Messi. The BRAVIA engine is in the house this time.
Full HD video recording. 8MP auto-focus. All the connectivity you have dream of. MiniHDMI, check. Voice dialing, check. Adobe Flash 10.2 browser support, check. 720p video recording with continuous auto-focus, check. Wifi and DLNA, also check. Accelerometer and proximity sensor, check. Still, it can't take off. Why? It got poor angles. Angles of viewing. No smart dialing. The microSD is not hot-swappable. Chill out and cheer up. The pilot is Android Gingerbread. The latest android in the cockpit. It aim via Exmor R camera sensor. The design is so extravaganza up to point you can forgive the tiny pity shutter key and its "i want to jump of this edge" lens where the good scene is ended with your finger blocking it. That is how your RM 2049 is valued.
2nd place!! It's Nokia C5-03.
Everyone one a touchscreen phone. It's the era of touchscreen-mania. Blame those who make touchscreen a trend. Trendy teenage want some. So they smash their piggy bank and only found about RM650. Everyday they pray for a touchscreen phone. They want a good one. Much more value compare to what they are willing to spend. And they are blessed. Nokia C5-03 is there for them lying in the shelve praying for someone to come and make it their partner.
It shine with connectivity. It shy for its living fossil S60. Good thing is, it save your budget a lot. You get good GPS, and voice navigation. It's better design with multicolor and sleek curve. It is like 5800 on botox. It got no flash, auto-focus on its 5MP snapper, no shutter key and no lens. Its screen is resistive and make you curse under bright day out. Yet, it's not the features set it off to this 2nd place. It's the bloodline. The bloodline of satisfaction run inside its vein. The blood of retro champion and hit, the Nokia 5800.
1st place!! It's Nokia C6-01.
Our champion this week. The Nokia C6-01. Reasonably price. Reasonably style. Well built. Holy connectivity. It have one golden feature to set it apart from its rival, ClearBlack display. And it is also, the bloodline of old champ, Nokia 5800. This compact, unique and elegant child is yours for about RM 940-1038.
Like all top class touchscreen, the medium used here is capacitive. You got 8MP with dual-LED flash camera to mess around and oversharpen thing. It got acelerometer and proximity sensor on board. Flash and java are supported by browser. Smart dialing and voice command is ready for you. Audio quality is top notch. Not much to complain except that old old symbian, lacks of 3rd party apps. Just one thing that hurt a lot. Since it become so compact, it got no rooms for lungs, so it get out of breath annoyingly very soon. About the ClearBlack Display, it in sense can rival that SuperAmoled screen. Making it good to show off under direct sunlight as well as indoors. This one is surely the winner. The pricing is reasonable, the built are excellent, the specs are premium. What else can you ask more for a budget under 1k. You can ask for two set. One for you and other for your love one.
WRAP UP ....
There will be a lot of phones with modern arsenal now on their conquest to the market, so there still a lot to see. And for Malaysian, the reputation of nokia still hold its ground. The Korean giants now at its gate launch missile after missile. The Sony waking up from its bad behavior, There are a lot to look forward to. This kingdom is dynamic. And the quest is just begin.
