iOS Traking Regime. Prevention Meassure.

Posted on 8:11 PM by The G

Take Cover! It's okay to assume that all of us here knows that iOS has been tracking us. At the beginning, iOs has offered location services from the start. Pinpointing your location using Cell-ID and Wifi hotspots. They used Google and Skyhook database to do that previously. Starting from iOS 3.2, Apple has its own dataase which is why they needs to collect such statistics. Rest assure that your data is annonimized and sent over an encrypted channel. The biggest fear is...

When you do any backups or syncing. Because the on iGadgets, record of all your movements are kept unencrypted.what it does.  anyone getting access to the file (called consolidated.db), either through hacking or stealing the device that contains a copy of the file can easily extract a log of your whereabouts. Thing to highlight here is, Apple and logging activities of iGadgets weren't really a secret, especially to those who read the Terms and Conditions. They just don't give prominent warnings. For those who didn't read it, maybe their best reaction is to point hand and start accusing others for their nonsense stuff. Also, older versions of iOS (prior to v4) kept a similar log  in another location.

For those who immediately need a prevention measure or just want to declare war, or take cover from getting tracked, there's an app to delete the log and prevent iOS from keeping one. It’s an app called Untrackerd, which can be installed on jailbroken iGadget from the Cydia software repository.
