That will ignite your spirits and keep your survival wits sharp. Now, you successfully found something to eat, and drink. But because of too much excitement, you finish it all in one shot. Then you fall sick and didn't have the energy to find water and food. That's bad. That's why you need to manage your supply. Save some for emergencies or unexpected event.
